DAFZ to unveil latest smart services & innovative solutions for business and investment support at GITEX

The Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (DAFZ) has completed all technical preparations for its participation in GITEX Technology Week 2015, the 35th edition of the largest information and communications technology event in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region. DAFZ will showcase its latest smart services and innovative solutions for ensuring an integrated environment that meets the needs of employees, customers, visitors and investors. The new smart services to be launched by the Authority during the event include ‘SMART Investor,’ ‘SMART Employee,’ and ‘SMART Operations’ among others.

DAFZ will review major developments related to ‘smart’ transformation and its own success on transitioning to a ‘smart city’ environment during its participation in the latest edition of GITEX which runs from October 18 to 22, 2015 at the Dubai Convention Centre under the theme ‘The Internet Future of Everything.’ These developments are in line with the Authority’s full support for the ‘Dubai Smart City’ initiative launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

GITEX 2015 visitors will have the opportunity to closely explore the benefits of the Freezone’s ‘SMART Investor’ application, which provides access to all smart services for new and existing customers, including application submission, payment via smart devices, and delivery of official documents.

DAFZ will also showcase its ‘SMART Operations’ applications which is of high importance as it provides direct access to smart services for security and safety, controls smart security gates, operates traffic management and integrated parking systems, and enhances the efficiency of energy consumption in buildings, among many more other functions.

‘SMART Employee’ is a professional app that will also be highlighted at GITEX 2015. It provides human resource management services via smart phones and is supported by a smart intranet portal. The app includes mobile management systems for institutional resources and facilitates the smart management of customer services. Other key achievements to be highlighted by DAFZ is being among the first free zones in the region to offer free wireless internet access. both customers and staff, at download speeds of up to 1 MB.

Buthaina Bin Fahad, Senior Director of Information and Communication Technology Department, DAFZ, said: “We have kept a sharp focus on designing and developing an integrated portfolio of smart innovative services to complement our efforts at the Freezone to improve infrastructure and turn the area into a genuine ‘smart city.’ The new services we have introduced are important additions to our strategy of attracting more regional and international investors and to our commitment to meet the needs of companies operating within DAFZ, especially those involved in IT sector, in order to keep them in pace with rapid developments in this digital age.”

Over the past years DAFZ has had many achievements in its smart transformation efforts. Its innovative smart service initiatives and projects include free Wi-Fi access throughout the Freezone, a smart application that provides easy and direct access to more than 300 services, and the ’DAFZ Eye’ application that enables customers to submit instant reports on issues, concerns and complaints that need to be investigated and addressed within DAFZ.
