Dafza announces new promotions in leadership positions as part of Emiratisation policy

Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (Dafza) has announced completion of all Emiratisation phases across leadership positions of first, second and third rows. The strategically important move serves as a key step forward to the efforts aimed at boosting the contribution of Emirati leaders in the implementation of public strategies related to attracting foreign direct investments (FDI) and raising the bar on national economy to help position Dubai as an international centre of business and investment. This falls on a par with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.


As part of commitment to Emiratisation as a national priority, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airport Freezone Authority, has issued a decision to promote a number of promising national leaders who have had a vital role in raising the bar on excellence and leadership in Dafza. The promotions included assignment of Ms. Amina Rashid Lootah as Assistant Director General of Finance and Commercial Operations; Mr. Adel Ghafan as Assistant Director General of ICT and Engineering; and Mr. Yousif Bahzad as Assistant Director General of People Growth and Strategy.


H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum explained that the new promotions at Dafza fall in line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to invest in and rehabilitate creative national competences to occupy leading positions each according to his/her practical expertise and academic qualifications. H.H. added that these promotions reflects the high confidence in the ability of leading talents to achieve the ambitious objectives of consolidating Dafza's position as one of the most advanced freezones in the world and at the same time reinforce the UAE's footprint amongst the top-notch developed nations.


"Dafza has seen remarkable progress in its strategic plan to enable and develop national personnel through a series of initiatives and policies aimed at achieving Emiratisation objectives which not only revolves around increasing number of Emiratis, but also to  promote their effective role in various segments. We follow an approach based on establishing a suitable environment for innovation, creativity and teamwork while also encouraging values of excellence, professionalism and openness to best practices and experience. We look to address the fast-growing economic changes and achieve best year-on-year results", H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed said.

In 2014, Dafza made a remarkable achievement with 100% Emiratisation in leadership positions and 71.1% in overall personnel. Female employees represented a total of 33%, which reflects the Authority's commitment to the directives of Dubai Government to enable women in the labour market and offer her utmost support to occupy higher positions and have the facilities and incentives which ensure their equality with men.
